Countdown to Lake Season

As Summer slowly creeps closer, the countdown to lake season has begun! Long summer days on a pontoon with friends & warm summer nights by the campfires. Summer memories are drawing close.

If you live in Kentucky you know about all the major events on Lake Cumberland during the summer. Starting on June 19th – 21st the State Dock will host the 12th Annual Thunder Run. This the first big event on Lake Cumberland, with entertainment on Friday and Saturday night. People from all over the country bring their fastest and meanest boats. They go to different marinas around Lake Cumberland and collect poker cards. Whoever has the best hand wins! This is one of two poker runs of the season.

The fun doesn’t stop with Thunder Run, on August 1st The World’s Largest Raft Up on Lake Cumberland takes place near Conley Bottom. Grab your floats, rafts, noodles, a few good friends and anchor down for a good time! With live entertainment on the party barge you don’t want to miss this!

As the season winds down, the biggest and most exciting event of the year takes place on September 11th – 13th the Lake Cumberland Poker Run. Over 100 of the fastest and loudest boats come to Lake Cumberland making this the largest and most popular Poker Run. You will be able to view this incredible race between Burnside Marina and Grider Hill Marina. Friday night the party begins at the State Dock in Jamestown at 8pm to 12am.             Lake Cumberland is also one of the best places to fish in the country. Lake Cumberland is famous for having Crappie, Bream, Walleye, Trout, and Catfish, plus five species of bass – Largemouth, Smallmouth, White, Kentucky and Rock. Hot summer days or cool fall nights the fish are always biting!
